With the newer generations of flat-panel televisions taking up ever-diminishing space, the design of popular loudspeaker will have to follow suit. The Jamo A 101 is shallow enough to match the slimmest new TV’s and is only 2”/50mm deep, so it can easily be placed in contemporary home decors.

Q Acoustics Launch New 2000i Series of Speakers

Available in October Q Acoustics have announced they have upgraded the current 2000 series and will be bringing out the following speakers, Q Acoustics 2010i Bookshelf Speakers , Q Acoustics 2020i Bookshelf Speakers, Q Acoustics 2050i Floorstanding Speakers, Q Acoustics 2000Ci Centre Speaker, Q Acoustics 2070Si Subwoofer.

Initial details regarding the new 2000i range

Every model (except the new 2070Si subwoofer) benefits from an all new 25mm dome tweeter incorporating an advanced multi-layered cone material (rather than treated fabric) with ‘super-decoupling’ from the loudspeaker’s baffle as well as integral damping. The new tweeter delivers extraordinar ily low distortion which results in a ‘sweeter’ treble, improved imaging and wider soundstage.

All the main drive units benefit from a new state-of-the-art cone material. The previous paper/mica mix has been replaced with a new carbon fibre and ceramic coated paper material. Sonic benefits are again lower distortion, cleaner more open sound and faster transients. Improvements to the tweeters and bass/mid units necessitated corresponding improvements to the crossovers.

In addition to the other changes, the flagship Q2050i floor standing model now incorporates an oversized voice coil on its main drivers and larger magnet assemblies resulting in lower power compression. The 2050i cabinet has received extensive internal bracing upgrades to control panel resonances and standing wave modes. The Q2050i now boasts ultra-low levels of distortion, typically found of speakers costing three or four times as much. Not surprisingly, as a result it delivers a dynamic open sound quality.

The new Q2070Si subwoofer has improved low frequency extension and attack, which have been achieved through upgrades to its Digital Signal Processing.

New Baffle mouldings, a distinctive tweeter ring and new style ‘Q’ Badges complete the cosmetic changes and differentiate the new 2000i Series from the current models.

As well as traditional ‘Graphite Black’ and ‘Walnut’ finishes the new 2000i models are available in ‘Piano Gloss Black’ and ‘Piano Gloss White’ finishes

New Optoma Themescene HD83 3D Home Cinema Projector

Optoma have released information on the forthcoming Optoma Themescene HD83 3D Home Cinema Projector which is due for release early October. Retailing at £2,399.00 it will replace the HD82. It will have two pairs of 3D glasses packaged with it.
