I have never seen a plasma TV and Blu-ray player installed so quickly!  After a bit of fine tuning and adjustment (that was just the pair of 3D glasses!) we popped in a demo disc.  Even the disc menu pops out at you or sinks deep into the screen.  Soon we were diving in the Red Sea, walking through Rome and flying across the Grand Canyons!!

The Panasonic TX-P50VT20 is a very impressive plasma indeed, as is the Panasonic DMP-BDT300 3D Blu-ray Player  a fine Blu-ray player.  We obviously started with 3D material as the anticipation was too great.  All of us had seen 3D in various versions over the years at the cinema, some of us even remember seeing JawsIII with cardboard glasses, but no one had witnessed a TV presenting 3D.  So far the reaction is very positive, but you do have to adjust how you watch TV in this new format – I’m sure we’ll manage!

We did also watch some material in 2D HD and again the picture quality was excellent.  The Panasonic engineers have obviously worked hard to achieve 3D HD and in doing so 2D HD is further improved as a result.

This is just a taster and further bulletins will be added as we start to get more technical and get more material to try out.

600 Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data, then optimises the sub-field to display fast-action scenes in full-HD resolution. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects.

This made good reading as we have just positioned the Panasonic TX-P46Z1 on our new media wall. The Home Cinema Choice review can be found in the September 2009 edition and also here in the near future in their online review section.  The general concensus here is similar to that expressed by Home Cinema Choice, in that  it is an excellent TV with the added benefit of reducing the spaghetti junction of wires that most of our customers hate.

A Panasonic DMR-BS750 Blu-ray recorder is linked to the Z1 TV via it’s media box and both boxes takes up less space than an early DVD player!
